DUO - Modular Stationery Device
10/28/2024
DUO is a modular stationery system for makers & creatives. The structure is inspired by Japanese wood joinery which enables the connection of different tools depending on a users needs. It is an adaptable, versatile and evolving system.
PROBLEM
Creatives often purchase multiple tools by different brands to achieve their goals. An average consumer may not place much stake in what type of tool they are purchasing. If there was one system that provided quality, affordability and ease of use for various tools this would remove the need for multiple consumable products and increase sustainability.

IDEATION
Focusing on longevity and an individual’s connection to their tools, DUO aims to provide customizable, space-saving, sustainable tools/devices that adapt to users needs. Aim for an intuitive connection mechanism that is satisfying, functional, and aesthetic.
CHALLENGES
Size and innovative mechanisms to ensure a reduced learning curve for users while maintaining a streamline profile. Manufacturing processes that are cost efficient, quality and work with the design. Designing functional mechanisms that can work with a range of materials. Multiple prototypes not fitting properly because of differing manufacturing processes or design.
